MATERIAL LIST FOR WORKSHOPS AND CLASSES

1. Easel

2. Panel or canvas, sizes from 16″x20″ to 22″x28″ are good. With a large canvas (20″x24″, 22″x28″ or bigger) you will feel more feedom; it will be easier to draw details than on a small canvas. These formats are especially good for long-term studies with a stable state of nature. Small formats (16″x20″ or smaller) are good for sketches, where you need to quickly grasp the state of nature, such as sunset o sunrice. For a cityscape, I recommend choosing a canvas format that is close to a square. For example, 20″x24″.

3. Paints. I recommend to have these colors:

Cadmium Yellow Lemon
Cadmium Yellow Medium
Cadmium Orange
Yellow Ochre
Raw Sienna
Raw Umber
Ivory Black
Mars Brown Light
English Red (Venetian Red)
Cadmium Red
Alizarine
Phtalo Green
Viridian Green
Cobalt Blue
Ultramarine
Titanium White

4. Medium. I use as a medium just a mineral spirit from Home Depot, but you can use also Gamsol, turpentine etc. (most painters recommend adding a little oil)

5. Brushes. You need bristle brushes – one big, two or three medium and couple of small brushes. I recommend you have one small Kolinsky brush for details. All brands have a different system of sizes.

6. Palette Knife

7. Trash Bag

8. Medium Cup
